National Honor SocietyWelcome to the National Honor Society! Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded a high school student. NHS has worked diligently to bring outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and community. Students will be invited to join NHS early in the Fall semester. They will then complete an application and, once approved, will be invited to be inducted into the Harrison NHS chapter later that fall. The Harrison chapter of the National Honor Society requires a GPA of 3.5 (or higher) for admission. Chapters in more than 15,000 high schools across the nation strive to give practical meaning to the Society's goals of scholarship, leadership, service and character. NHS wishes to recognize the total student: one who excels in these areas. Selection for membership in the Harrison National Honor Society is based on scholarship, leadership, service and character. Membership, however, is more than an honor. It carries with it certain privileges and duties. It incurs a responsibility and obligation to demonstrate those outstanding qualities that resulted in your selection. Membership also carries an obligation to the chapter. If our chapter of the NHS is to be effective and meaningful, each member must become involved. Finally, by accepting membership you commit to maintain your academic excellence. NHS members must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and complete community service hours. Should you fall below this you will be put on probation for the following term. During this time it is your responsibility to raise your cumulative grade point average back to a 3.5 or higher. Sponsor: Mrs. Suzi Lambert |
